About: 

UITP Asia-Pacific is organizing the 2nd edition of training programme and study tour on electric buses which is taking place on 2-6 November 2018 in Zhengzhou and Beijing in cooperation with Zhengzhou Yutong Bus Co.,Ltd. (Yutong), the world’s largest electric bus manufacturer and Beijing Public Transport Corporation (BPTC), which has 100,000 employees and operates more than 26,000 buses. China is the most progressive and committed country in electric bus adoption; China’s National statistics in 2017 show that the Mainland China has over 0.65 million public buses in operation and close to 40% of them are new energy buses.

The programme will provide a classroom training in Zhengzhou, and offer a Study Tour covering Zhengzhou and Beijing to provide participants a rewarding experience to visit the Chinese city with the largest electric bus usage, and the home for the top electric bus manufacturer in China. 

The programme will offer a comprehensive overview of the electric solution for urban bus networks, from the setting of a city strategy, the choice of technology, the procurement of buses, all the way to the implementation and operation of the system. In addition to our interactive plenary sessions,a workshop in World Café format will also allow participants to create new points of view through dialogue and discussion, pool their information and examine it from various angles, and integrate their diverse individual perspectives into a new collective perspective.

Objectives of the Programme

  • Introduce the electric solution, the different types of technologies and  compare their benefits and drawbacks
  • Understand how to get value from electric buses looking at their economic, environmental and societal feasibility
  • Learn from experience on how to implement and run electric bus lines successfully
  • Understand the implications for operations and infrastructure

  • Get inspired by our trainers, understand the main aspects of electric buses and learn from successful best practice
  • Participate to interactive plenary sessions with introduction by course leaders, presentation by the trainer and open discussion with participants
  • Address the topic from an international perspective, enriched by different cultural approaches and points of views
  • Participate to workshop allowing you to benefit from a unique exchange of knowledge and experience between professionals from all around the world

Trainers’ Profiles

Alok JAIN, former D. Operations Director of KMB Hong Kong and General Manager - Marketing of MTR Corporation and Managing Director, Trans-Consult Asia, Hong Kong     

Before starting his new career with Trans-Consult, Alok was the Deputy Operations Director of The Kowloon Motor Bus Co. (1933) Ltd. (KMB). He was a director of MVA Asia Ltd. involved in the design and planning of various transport infrastructure projects in the Middle-east and Asian regions. Alok spent over half of 20 years in Hong Kong to work with MTR Corporation / KCR Corporation holding various positions in Engineering, Finance, Operations, and Marketing, and was also a nominated director of Octopus group of companies. He is also an Assistant Professor (part-time) in the Urban Planning Department at University of Hong Kong, and serves as a Member in Transport Policy Committee of the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport in Hong Kong.

Paul BROMLEY,  Managing Director, Phoenix Business Consulting

Paul was previously worked as Chief Technicial Officier for China Dynamics (Holdings) Limited, Bedford Commercial Vehicles, Goodyear International Tire Technical Centre, Plaxton Bus & Coach and Leyland Trucks as well as Alexander Dennis and its predecessor companies. During his time in the vehicle industry he has fulfilled a variety of senior roles such as being responsible for all product Test and Development, New Product Development, Product Manager for Double Deck Bus and Head of Engineering. He has overseen the successful launch of Dennis Dart, Trident and Enviro500 buses, and have worked on diesel emissions reductions and CNG projects and led the introduction of hybrid buses into Hong Kong. Paul is now the Managing Director in Phoenix Business Consulting and leading the wider introduction of e-buses across the Asia Pacific market.

Mr. CHANG Hao, Deputy General Manager of the International Business Dept. of Zhengzhou Yutong Bus Co., Ltd. 

Mr. CHANG Hao, Deputy General Manager of the International Business Dept. of Zhengzhou Yutong Bus Co., Ltd., who is responsible for the market development planning and sales management of Yutong company’s overseas market. He has been involved in the related public transport industry in over ten countries and regions such as Singapore, Hong Kong China, Taiwan China, Philippines and France for over ten years, and has a deep understanding and study on the market characteristics and customer needs of the public transport industry.

Mr. Han Song, Marketing Director, Microvast Power System Company Limited

Mr. Han Song is now Marketing Director of Microvast Power System Company Limited in Huzhou, Zhejiang, China. With over 10 years of sales and marketing expreience in Automotive Li-ion battery industry, he is responsible of the company branding, communication, market analysis, and business development. Mr Song joined Microvast since 2007, during his first years in the company, he was in the position of Li-ion battery material research and development and its industrialization. Since 2008, he was responsible of the company branding, marketing analysis, as well as international sales and marketing, and was in charge of several key overseas projects. Mr Song is graduated in Hunan University with a master degree in chemical engineering.

Mr Luigi Lonoce, Global Product Specialist Rail and Urban Transportatioin, ABB Switzerland Limited, Product Group System Integration

Luigi holds a M.Sc. in Electronic Engineering and a PgCert in Railway Systems Engineering and Integration. He has been with ABB since 2008 and has held several leading technical roles in the power grids and system integration business around the globe. As part of the Global Product Management team of ABB, he is currently responsible for the technical solutions portfolio for rail and urban transport electrification, including the innovative flash-charging technology for high-capacity battery-powered vehicles. His passion is to apply technologies to a more sustainable mobility that meets people's needs and matches local contexts.

**Registration fees are transferable to another employee of the same organization but it is non-refundable.

High Speed Train from Zhengzhou to Beijing:

The seats of China's high-speed train have three categories: business seat, first-class seat and second-class seat. UITP recommends this seat type unless a wider seat is required.

The first-class seats are more spacious than the second-class seats.

The business seats are extraordinarily spacious and the seat can be adjusted up to a flat-on position.

Each business seat is equipped with a separate electronic screen and reading light, allowing passengers to watch movies and other entertainment shows during the trip.

Yutong will help booking the tickets of High Speed Train  No.G68 (17:53-20:56), Zhenzhou East station to Beijing West station on  5 November.

The prices of the business, first-class and second-class seats are approximately RMB977, RMB495 and RMB309 respectively. High-speed trains are subject to a bit  floating-price fares. Scanned passport details is needed.Tickets will be paid well in advance by Yutong and the payment will be later collected from each participant on site.

Invitation letter application

Henan Provincial Department of Commerce has different requirements for foreigners from different countries who apply for visa invitation letters. Yutong will issue the visa invitation letter as necessary after registration is made.
