At the 14th Asia-Pacific Assembly (October 21, 2014) in Hong Kong, the International Association of Public Transport (UITP) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the China Urban Sustainable Transport Research Center (CUSTReC) as a sign of strong commitments towards sustainable mobility development in the Asia Pacific region.
This agreement encourages UITP and CUSTReC to collaborate on academic and practical public transport research, dissemination of projects to support sustainable public transport development, provide policy guidance, and development of joint educational programmes such as study tours, workshops and training programmes. UITP and CUSTReC are currently planning a Congress and Exhibition to be held at the end of 2015 in Beijing, China. (Details of the event will be available at a later date)
CUSTReC, as part of the China Academy of Transportation Sciences (CATS), is the leading research institute supporting the China Ministry of Transport in the area of urban transport. Based in Beijing, CUSTReC has multiyear support from Volvo Research and Education Foundation (VREF), the Chinese Ministry of Transport, and others to support its work.
