About:

Development of urban rail network seeks not only to meet the demand of urban population growth, but also to adapt to the future land use and transportation planning, especially for the rising of metropolitan cities in Asian region. Smooth operation of urban rail ensures seamless interchange among different transport means and prevents congesting the road network which can impact the life of residents, tourists and commuters in the region.

UITP and Korea Railroad Research Institute (KRRI) have jointly designed a seminar, themed "Unlocking The Potential Of Urban Rail’, will be held on March 8-10 in Seoul, South Korea. This seminar will provide a diverse range of topics on urban railway covering planning and operations, best practices, the transit-oriented development,  economics appraisal of railway projects and the latest technological innovations. The programme also includes specific technical visit and sessions on the use of urban rail as a sustainable mode of mobility.
