The 14th Asia-Pacifc Assembly has ended with great success

With the warmest thank you to all members and delegates for attending the 14th UITP Asia-Pacific Assembly on the theme of “Growing with Sustainable Mobility”, held from 21st - 23rd October in Hong Kong.

The Assembly had a record attendance of 281 delegates from 49 cities and 26 countries. The day commenced with a Keynote speech from Professor Anthony Cheung, Secretary for Transport and Housing, HKSAR Government, on the topic of “A people-based and Resilient Transport System”. Thereafter followed by 4 academic sessions with 16 renowned senior speakers from various transport operators, authorities and academia around Asia-Pacific region, covering topics of The Future of Urban Mobility 2.0, Working Together for Sustainable Mobility, and Urban Rail Innovation Best Practices. Through this Assembly, UITP also dedicated one session to Efforts in Climate Leadership (Asia and Worldwide), where authorities and academia discussed challenges and policies on sustainable public transportation in the region.

In addition to the enlightening Assembly, there were Technical Visits to MTR Corporation’s Operations Control Centre, MTR’s unique “Rail + Property Model”, and a study tour to Shenzhen, China. The Shenzhen Study Tour, co-hosted by MTR Corporation (Shenzhen) Limited and Shenzhen Metro Group Co., Ltd, gave delegates an insight into the metro operations of this megacity.

UITP Secretary General Mr. Alain Flausch, joining Mr. Morris Cheung, Chairman of UITP Asia-Pacific Division, look forward to meeting all delegates again in the 15th UITP Asia-Pacific Assembly in Shenzhen hosted by Shenzhen Metro Group Co., Ltd in  September 2015.
